Research Topic / Main Questions:
What was the importance of the Canadian beaver, and how did it shape Canada into what it is today?
Why did you choose this topic:
I wanted to explore the importance of the Canadian beaver to the fur trade. I also wanted to research how the beaver became a symbol of Canada.
Please summarize your experience in researching this project?
I knew that the beaver was important to Canada but I didn’t realise how important it was in the fur trade. The trading of the beaver helped expand Canada by bringing settlers over. Canada is what it is today because of the beaver and its importance in the fur trade.
How did you personally connect to this project?
I can relate to the topic of the Canadian beaver personally because I live in Canada. The Canadian beaver is still a symbol of Canada. I see it personally on our cent coin which I use sometimes when I shop. I loved researching the topic of the Canadian beaver because I got to understand why it was so important to the expansion of Canada.
What are your conclusions about your topic?
The trading of the Canadian beaver back in the late 1600’s helped to shape Canada into the lovely country it is today. The trading of the beaver brought European settlers over to Canada. They set up trading posts and expanded their trade throughout Canada.
