I chose this topic because of its historical significance in Canada’s history and both me and my partner are interested in historical battles.
Please summarize your experience in researching this project?
Researching this project was good and our thinking changed between source to source was because different sources said different things such as how the outcome of the battle would shape Canada. The challenges we faced were things like what would our research question be. The research was fairly simple because unlike the presentation we never need to do any recordings.

The presentation outlines the historical perspective and benefits of refugees in Canada. The main questions answered in this presentation: Why has Canada decided to accept refugees, What is Canada’s historical perspective in regards to refugees and what benefits has the country gained from this type of immigration?
Why did you choose this topic:
I chose this topic because I have personally met and family was involved in supporting refugees over the last few years. I wanted to further understand the refugee process, historical perspective and the significance of accepting refugees in the country.
Please summarize your experience in researching this project?
During my research experience, I began to notice Canada’s changing perspective on Refugees over the years. Canada took a different approach on Refugees after the second world war. Canada’s Refugee policy is now driven by values of compassion and fairness. As one of the world’s most privileged nations, Canada sees it as an obligation to offer protection to those in need, viewing refugee resettlement as an important part of its responsibilities within the International Community.
How did you personally connect to this project?
My connection to this project was working with a local organization that helped settle Syrian Refugees. The research conducted for this project gave me a better appreciation of the processes that refugees experience before they resettle in Canada.
What are your conclusions about your topic?
After conducting my research, I concluded that Canada is a very loving Country that welcomes people from all around the globe and gives them and their family the opportunity to have a safe place to call home. By accepting refugees Canada advances the country’s social, political, and economic interests. With Canada’s aging population, Refugees are beneficial for adding people to the country’s labour market.
